Catholic Charities of Kansas is looking for volunteers mentors to join our Refugee Youth Mentoring Program to help our newcomer youths achieve their educational, social, and career goals.
Here’s a brief overview of what we do, and the expectation of our mentors:
- Our mentees range from 15-24 years old. Some are in high school and others are wanting to take that first step towards going to college or pursuing a new career.
- All mentors must complete the required training and background check
- We ask for a commitment of one year.
- Mentors check in with their mentees virtually, once a week.
- Mentors and mentees meet up in-person at least once a month (at the library, a café, a park, community event, their home, etc.)
- Our program organizes events every other month for all participants (examples: soccer game, volunteering, college tour, etc.) and you can attend when available.
- Together, you and your mentee will make a plan based on their goals in school, or for a future career.
