Remake Learning Days: Wildlife and Water at Blue Valley Park

Calendar Happens On May 8, 2021
Time 12:30 - 4:00pm
Expired

Description

For Remake Learning Days, Heartland Conservation Alliance and U.S. Fish & Wildlife are teaming up to host an event to highlight the wildlife and the ways everyone can work together to make the park beautiful and keep the Blue River healthy.

Participants will be asked to reimagine their role in nature through the many ways water comes into their lives. Activities will include analyzing macroinvertebrates and fish, painting and art, and learning how to keep the Blue River clean and safe.

The activities will be spaced out appropriately to provide COVID-safe distancing, and masks and hand sanitizer will be provided to those who need them. This volunteer opportunity does involve working with children and families.

Tasks involve:

  • Managing and maintaining both table-based activities
  • Managing and maintaining a fishing activity - making sure children are casting lines correctly and sanitizing the poles following use
  • Providing guidance to the area cleanup
  • Managing and maintaining paints and the cleanup materials
  • Registration and/or check out
