English Outreach Tutors provide English learning opportunities to refugee adults who are unable to attend traditional English classes due to work schedules, transportation barriers, or other life commitments. This volunteer role offers flexible scheduling and can take place in a variety of agreed-upon locations. Tutors are supported through training and resources to help create a simple and effective learning plan for their student
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Meet with a refugee student for English tutoring on a consistent weekly schedule
- Provide basic English instruction focused on conversation, reading, writing, and everyday life skills
- Prepare simple lessons or activities that match the student’s needs and goals
- Encourage and support the student’s confidence and progress over time
- Communicate with program staff as needed for guidance, resources, or support
