You will serve a vital role in keeping the athletes safe by ensuring the streets are clear of vehicles and spectators. The course is closed to vehicles, but if a vehicle does approach, you should instruct the driver to turn around and take an alternate route.
You must be 16 or older, or accompanied by an adult, to serve in this role. Locations will be assigned a week before race and announced via email & Google Maps. We will have staggering start times, so if your assignment is located on the back half of the route, your shift will start later than 6:30 a.m. Also, if your assignment is located on the front half of the route, your shift will end sooner than 1:30 p.m.
Cheer on the athletes, offer them encouraging words and keep them going in the right direction. Police will be at all major intersections if you need additional support. If you have any questions, contact Jayden Hicks, jayden@uncoverkc.org or 816-200-7134.
