Troostwood Neighborhood Association
Troostwood Neighborhood is a historic Kansas City neighborhood spanning from MLK to Rockhurst Road (52nd Street) and from Paseo to Troost. This diverse, beautiful, and friendly neighborhood is one of Kansas City's greatest secrets. Troostwood is a diverse neighborhood. The architecture ranges from early-1900s bungalows and mid-century duplexes to modern, energy-efficient custom homes. Every home is as diverse as its residents, with historic charm and unique character. Stone foundations, stone driveway walls, a hilly landscape, and tall trees give the neighborhood's streets a sense of established history and park-like beauty. Troostwood's demographics are as diverse as its homes. The people range in life stage—from college students to young families to middle-aged to elderly—as well as in socioeconomic status, race, education level, and background. Troostwood's boundaries are near both Rockhurst University and UMKC; hence, the neighborhood has a sizeable student population and close ties to both universities. The neighborhood benefits from these close ties, from the use of Rockhurst's Community Center to partnerships on service opportunities.
