Troostwood Neighborhood Association

Who We Are

Troostwood is a historic neighborhood in Kansas City, stretching from MLK to Rockhurst Road (52nd Street) and from Paseo to Troost.
The neighborhood features a mix of early-1900s bungalows, mid-century duplexes, and modern, energy-efficient custom homes. Each house has its own unique character and historic charm. Stone foundations, stone driveway walls, rolling hills, and tall trees give the streets a sense of history and a park-like feel.
The people who live here are just as varied as the homes. Residents include college students, young families, middle-aged adults, and seniors, and they come from many different backgrounds, races, and walks of life.
Troostwood is close to both Rockhurst University and UMKC, so there is a strong student presence and close connections with both schools. These ties offer opportunities for community service partnerships

What We Do

The Troostwood Neighborhood Association meets every quarter at the Alvin Brooks Center for Faith-Justice at Rockhurst University. We also organize year-round social events, like block parties with food, drinks, and live music, and an annual Halloween Party with Rockhurst University.
If you want to help out, there are community service opportunities at the Halloween Party and at the Troostwood Pocket Park on 49th Street and Troost. Volunteer days might include planting, weeding, mulching, picking up trash, or removing invasive plants.
