This assignment is seeking volunteers who are movers and shakers to deliver blood products to our local hospitals in Kansas City from 8am-11:30am on weekdays. We provide the vehicle, fuel and fun-you bring dedication, reliability and a big smile!

Qualifications:

Must have a driver’s license-class E for Missouri residents or a standard Kansas driver’s license. (will reimburse license costs after 6 months of successful service) • Willing to learn and use a tablet or smartphone to for our Delivery Scanning program. (training provided) • Must be able to successfully pass a background screening and Motor Vehicle Record check. • Ability to lift 35 lbs. • Excellent customer service skills. • Ability to follow directions and adhere to a schedule.

Location: Olathe Donor Center

Help us spread the word about the importance of blood donations and their life-saving impact on critically ill patients. In this role, you will be answering questions about blood donation, educating possible donors, and encouraging people to sign up for upcoming drives in their area.

If sorting and organizing other people's things gets you excited, then we want you to join our volunteer team! We're looking for volunteers to help us sort through creative materials and prepare them for processing before they hit our resale shop. One time, weekly and group volunteers are needed for shifts Tuesday-Sunday 12-2 or 2-4 but you're welcome to stay longer! 

We love our voluteers so much we give them 20% off the creative treasures they want to take home.

If you love fabric, yarn and notions and want to keep them out of the landfill then this volunteer opportunity is for you! We're looking for one time, weekly and group volunteers to help us sort and process yarns, fabrics, notions for our resale shop. Opportunities are available Tuesday-Sunday 12-2 or 2-4 or share four hours of your time. We'll train you but some knowledge of fabric, yarn or notions is helpful.

Tues-Sat Construction Volunteer for Habitat Home

Volunteers Urgently Needed to help build and repair homes in Eastern Jackson County

Looking for those with weekday availability to help our trained construction staff with home projects for Truman Heritage Habitat for Humanity. Experience helpful. This will be a small group or individual opportunity to help our construction staff with repair, rehab, and build projects. 

Help families move into their new Habitat Homes and Homeowners keep their homes by building, rehabbing, and repairing homes. Learn new skills or share your skills. 

The tasks vary from week to week - anything from framing walls to installing doorknobs.

Specific job site locations vary but are all in Eastern Jackson County.

All of our volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Youth age 16-17 must be supervised by responsible adults at a ratio of not less than one adult over the age of 21 for every four youth. Parent/Guardian must sign a waiver for youth.

We require everyone to wear closed-toed shoes and ask for appropriate clothing (please consider the weather and work conditions). No tools are needed, just a willingness to learn new skills and to volunteer.

Are you looking for a career in recreation therapy and want to see what it would be like to work with older adults?  Do you just enjoy being around older adults and want to contribute to improving their quality of life? Do you have something unique you’d like to share?

We are opening our Independent Living apartments this Fall. In the Spring of 2020, we will open our Assisted Living and Memory Care Communities. This is a great opportunity to work with older adults with different physical and cognitive needs. You have your choice.

Many of the activities will be similar between the communities, but adjusted to meet the needs of each individual and population. Your role in either of these communities is to assist the Community Life staff in setting up for and implementing activities. This could be calling Bingo, playing Balloon Ball, doing a craft activity, painting fingernails, etc.

We would like a minimum of 2 hours a week for a period of nine months. You will receive a Volunteer Orientation that consists of Adult Abuse Awareness, Confidentiality, Safety Procedures, and Infection Control among other topics.  You will be required to submit to a criminal background check and a TB test.
