Volunteer: Activities AssistantAre you looking for a career in recreation therapy and want to see what it would be like to work with older adults? Do you just enjoy being around older adults and want to contribute to improving their quality of life? Do you have something unique you’d like to share? We are opening our Independent Living apartments this Fall. In the Spring of 2020, we will open our Assisted Living and Memory Care Communities. This is a great opportunity to work with older adults with different physical and cognitive needs. You have your choice. Many of the activities will be similar between the communities, but adjusted to meet the needs of each individual and population. Your role in either of these communities is to assist the Community Life staff in setting up for and implementing activities. This could be calling Bingo, playing Balloon Ball, doing a craft activity, painting fingernails, etc. We would like a minimum of 2 hours a week for a period of nine months. You will receive a Volunteer Orientation that consists of Adult Abuse Awareness, Confidentiality, Safety Procedures, and Infection Control among other topics. You will be required to submit to a criminal background check and a TB test.
