It will be an evening filled with delicious food, tasty cocktails, interactive experiences and an awesome raffle — all at the new Wonderscope Children’s Museum’s stunning indoor-outdoor venue. Celebrate Lead to Read KC’s 10-year anniversary and help Kansas City children build a brighter future!
Volunteer to help Lead to Read KC
1-4pm Set Up Crew (5)
Help with loading items into the building, staging signs on easels in our prep area, setting out auction/raffle items and signage, placing easel signs once the museum is clear of guests, prepping registration, etc…:

Registration/Check Out (3)
Operates the Registration Table to check guests in at the beginning of the event. Operates the Registration Table to check guests out at the end of the event, includes auction item distribution.
Donation Buttons (4)
Volunteers will roam throughout the venue to ask guests if they would like to make a donation via their mobile device and handing out buttons to anyone who does. Volunteers will receive a basic tutorial of OneCause prior to the event.
Event Experience - Design Lab (Book Sculptures) (2)
Guests will be building sculptures out of letters cut from board books. As guests come up to the station, invite them to participate in the sculpture-building and have some fun!
Event Experience - Art Studio (Why I Lead to Read) (1)
Guests are invited to share why they read by writing on the glass windows and the butcher paper provided.
Event Experience - Water Works (Duck Races) (1)
Guests can race each other through the water feature using rubber ducks. Winners receive a small trinket given out by the volunteers. Volunteers can help increase the fun factor here by announcing the start of a duck race, calling out winners, etc..
Event Experience - On the Move (2)
Utilizing the activities throughout the area, guests are invited to partake in some friendly competition with each other (basketball shooting, pulley chair races, etc…) Len Jennings will be providing some commentary throughout the area.
Event Experience - WonderMart (2)
Guests will be able to go “shopping” for books to donate to a LTRKC classroom library, personalize a bookmark to be given to a LTRKC student and purchase LTRKC merchandise. Volunteers will receive a basic tutorial in OneCause prior to the event.
Event Experience - Wondersteps (Raffle/Auction) (2)
Volunteers will be available to assist guests if they have any questions regarding how to bid on their phones, specifics around the packages, etc. Volunteers will receive a basic tutorial of OneCause prior to the event to assist with any troubleshooting
