At Blessings Abound Thrift store on 13637 Washington Street, Monday - Saturday from 8am to 6pm.  Part of the proceeds from Blessings Abound support Catholic Charities.  At the Thrift Store, you can sort donated items, repair or improve donations, assist customers, merchandise donated items on sales floor, clean store and serve as cashier.

Job Duties: This is a volunteer receptionist position at our NEW Rockhurst office, assisting clients as they come through the doors looking for social services. This position requires basic data entry and computer skills to look up information and input case data. Feel free to do homework at the desk when you are not actively needed!

The Shifts are: Monday through Thursday, 8:30am - 12:30pm and 12:30pm - 4:30pm.

Help our Employment Specialist assist clients in creating resumes, job interview preparation, job search help and advice for job seekers.

Catholic Charities moved into our permanent home at our newly renovated location at 8001 Longview Rd., Kansas City, MO, in the fall of 2024! We have made great progress but need assistance with further renovations and the basic upkeep of our building and the grounds.  Depending on your skill set and interests, we have plenty of opportunities to assist with lawnmowing, landscaping, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, mechanical, carpentry, special design and automotive needs.

You can help film/photograph events, help give out Marketing collateral and keep it up to date, or some data entry.

Help the volunteer team do their best work to provide the agency with meaningful opportunities for the community to volunteer. You may find yourself doing a variety of tasks like data entry, assisting with events, recruiting volunteers and joining the team to creatively think of new ways to support those who need it the most!

Some of the most basic needs of our clients are food and hygiene products, which are far too often not available. So, round up your friends, neighbors, church families and community members (or you can do it on your own) to help support those who need it the most. Create a contest at school or work to make it fun! Large or small, each donation will go to someone in need. This is a great project for individuals who have limited time to share at the agency but want to support our mission! Here are some examples of items needed for clients. Create your kit and drop it off at Catholic Charities and let us know how many hours you devoted to it.

· Senior Care Kits - lip balm, hand soap/sanitizer, bathing wipes, nail clippers, toothbrush/toothpaste, incontinence products, hairbrush/comb, non-slip nail clippers, Moisturizing lotion (especially for dry skin), pill organizer,

· Men's Care Kits - men’s deodorant, razor and shaving cream, aftershave, lotion, toothbrush and toothpaste, comb or hairbrush, nail clippers and file, body wash or soap, shampoo and conditioner.

· Women’s Care Kits - deodorant, razor and shaving cream, aftershave, lotion, toothbrush and toothpaste, comb or hairbrush, nail clippers and file, body wash or soap, shampoo and conditioner, feminine wipes or no-rinse body wipes, adult sanitary pads or liners.

· Baby Care Kits - Digital thermometer, nasal aspirator (bulb syringe), baby nail clippers or file, gas relief drops, baby-safe sunscreen (6 months and older), teething gel or rings, first aid kit (bandages, baby-safe antiseptic), soft baby brush (for cradle cap), diapers, wipes (unscented or hypoallergenic), diaper rash cream (e.g., zinc oxide), baby lotion, baby shampoo and body wash, soft washcloths and towels, hooded towel, formula (if not breastfeeding), bottle brush, pacifiers and bibs (cloth and silicone).

· Birthday Care Kits - Cake mix, jar of applesauce, candles or cake decorations, frosting, streamers, balloons, cards, wrapping paper, party hats, stickers. Everyone deserves to have a good birthday!

The volunteer shifts are Tuesdays &Thursdays 7:30-9am, 9am-12pm and 12:30pm-4pm, Wednesdays 1-8pm and the First Saturday of the month 8am -noon. Located at 8001 Longview Road, KCMO. You can do things like unload trucks, bag groceries, stock shelves and help clients shop and carry their food to their cars. Training will be needed.

We partner with the Lions Club to be able to give eyeglasses to those in need. Join the Lions Club with sorting and cleaning and distributing eyeglasses during prep sessions. Supporting the clinicians during the clinics where clients come and get the clients eyes tested and fitted for glasses!
