Details:

- Meet at Arrupe Circle for 4:15pm departure or drive yourself to Uplift (1516 Prospect Ave, KC, MO) by 4:30pm, at which time we will load the vans. 

- Uplift route starts at 6:00pm and can last up to 4 hours.

- Wear warm clothes if it's cold.

- Consider bringing a donation with you.  Current high need items include women's & men's underwear, men's athletic shoes, hoodies

Grow in fellowship with people living on KC's streets by serving the meal, washing dishes, and visiting with new friends at the Cherith Brook Catholic Worker House.  Please note:

Kick off Earth Week by participating in the Great Kansas City Cleanup, in which neighborhood associations, community groups, students, city staff and others will volunteer at litter and trash pickup events across the city, with support from multiple city departments such as KC Parks, Public Works, KC Water, and Neighborhood Services.  Please note:

1) Meet in the Rock Room at 9:00am.  We will walk to the sites.  Plan to work until noon

2) Trash bags and work gloves will be provided.

3) Wear grubby clothes and boots or rugged/close-toed shoes.

4) BYO water bottle.

Plant trees on campus and in the surrounding neighborhood to commemorate National Arbor Day.  Our participation in this annual event is required for universities that have achieved Tree Campus USA status...an honor that Rockhurst has held for year. Items to note:

Mathapalooza is an outreach program based out of Rockhurst University's Math department, engaging students from grades K-12 with hands-on inquiry. We focus primarily on incorporating math through activities and art as well. Volunteers are expected to supervise, help set up/clean-up events, engage with students, and ultimately have fun at each event. If the volunteer can't commit the full time, no problem we will coordinate accordingly to the time they can allocate. Let's have fun with Math!   

This STEAM event will be held Saturday, May 2nd from 9:00am - 5:00pm on the campus of Johnson County Community College.  The exact building/location of the event will be shared closer to the event date.  Car-pooling from Rockhurst to and from this event will likely be offered.   Plan to depart Rockhurst at 8:30am and return by 5:30pm.  

Celebrate Mass with residents at nearby St. Anthony's Assisted Living, then hang out afterwards for snacks and fellowship!  During mass, you can either sing with a small music ensemble of Rockhurst students or simply sit in the pews alongside our elderly friends.  Meet at Arrupe Circle at 3:30pm.  Plan to return to campus around 5:30pm. 

Celebrate Earth Day by joining the Missouri Department of Conservation and community members in cleaning up litter at Camp Lake of the Woods in nearby Swope Park.  Items to note:

Slash invasive honeysuckle and pick up litter at the Paseo Memorial Park, located in our neighborhood.  Doing so supports local wildlife, reduces crime, and improves property value.  Please note:

Address KC's housing insecurity issue head on by serving for a day with Habitat for Humanity KC.  Previous experience/expert carpentry skills are not required.  Plan on departing Arrupe Circle at 8:00am and returning to campus by 3:00pm.  Please:

Orientation Leaders and Coordinators provide an invaluable service to Rockhurst University for the hours they dedicate to ensuring that our new students are welcome!

Volunteer to shovel snow on an as-needed basis for Kansas Citians who, due to age or physical limitations, cannot clear their own sidewalk or driveway.  After registering as a Snow Angel, you will be notified via email when you are matched with a resident in need of assistance and will receive further instructions.
